Centred Clay Studios is a welcoming space for potters seeking a community-minded atmosphere where collaboration is a core value.

Centred Clay Studios’ guild-style studio structure draws on a traditional, workshop-based method of skills acquisition emphasizing hands-on learning, mentorship, and a close-knit community of potters. Our approach is modeled on historic art guilds and ateliers, where experienced master artists (mentors) teach and guide apprentice and emerging artists (students) in developing their skills.

So, how did we get here?

Ashley Morrow and Julie Vincent have long histories with this unique space. Ashley’s association spanned more than twenty years, and Julie’s, nearly nine. Knowing the high demand for pottery instruction in this city of nearly 1.5 million people, and with the the mentorship of master potter, Dave Settles, we jumped at the chance to hang our shingle and add more instructional opportunities to the city’s vibrant pottery and ceramics community. And so, Centred Clay Studios was born.

We are so excited to carry on the legacy that has inhabited the Quonset for more than 20 years. Our guild-style structure is the foundation for collaboration and creative expression, and provides excellent, foundational wheel-throwing instruction lead by a cadre of talented and experienced potters.

Whatever your skill level, beginner onward, you are welcome here.
